These eggs are spudalisous!!! Feeding baby doesn’t have to be boring or bland. Find what baby likes and expand on it. Scrambled egg yolks make a perfect first finger food for a baby. It is easy to pick up and easy to eat. Here is a recipe that I developed for my little man. He loves it. Remember to try different foods depending on your babies tastes.

Recipe:

2 eggs separated (save the egg white for a healthy omlet for you)

one can potatoes

1/8 cup cheese

seasoning to taste ( no salt, garlic or onion salt…only garlic and onion powder)

1/8 cup milk, formula, or breastmilk

Cut potatoes up into small bit sized pieces. Brown these in a bit of butter. Scramble the egg yolks and add milk, cheese and seasoning. Beat well. Remove potatoes from pan. Scramble eggs. Once cooked add potatoes to the eggs, mix well. Let the potatoes and eggs cook. Remember the potatoes will stay hot in the middle longer. Check, check and double check…no hot potatoes for this baby!!

As baby gets older you will begin to look for different table foods to introduce him to. Egg allergies can be very serious. If you have a family history of an allergy it is wise to wait to introduce eggs. It is also wise to wait to introduce the egg white until baby is a year old. Egg yolks are fine for babies 9 months and older.

Eggs make a perfect finger food for baby. Scramble eggs are easy for baby to pick up and to chew. Cheese and soft veggies can be added for nutrition and taste. Be creative and remember to let baby try all foods, even if you don’t like them. Remember to avoid salt. Garlic powder, onion powder & a dash of pepper are all baby needs.

By the age of 10 months baby can eat almost anything you eat. Remember their taste buds are more sensitive than ours so a little seasoning goes a long way. Keeping food colorful and interesting will keep baby coming back.

6 OZ skinless Chicken Breast

1 riped peeled Avocado

1/8 C. Whole grain pasta

A dash of Garlic Powder ***

A dash of Onion Powder***

A drop or two of Lemon Juice

Boil Chicken until fully cooked, 15-20 minutes. Peel and pit Avocado. Cook pasta according to directions on the box. Puree first 3 ingredience together in Food Processor, Blender or Baby Food Mill. (Remember to adjust the consistency, as baby learns to chew, or gum, their food.) Add a dash of Garlic and Onion Powder for flavor. Remember babies taste buds are much more sensitive than ours, a little bit goes a long way. You may freeze these into single serving sizes.

*** Make sure you use Garlic POWDER and Onion POWDER —NOT – Garlic Salt or Onion Salt. Babies can not have salt!!!

As parents we wait in anticipation of each new step and milestone. When introducing food to your baby remember to start out slow and keep it simple.

Babies will become interested in food between 4 and 6 months. One day you will notice those big, round eyes following everything, from your plate, to your mouth. They may even try to help themselves. This is the clue you are looking for, your little one is ready to try out those taste buds. Remember start out slow and follow the 4 day wait rule. This means only introduce one food at a time and wait at least 4 days before you introduce a new food. This is done so you can pin point an allergy or reaction if necessary.

The first food should be a single grain cereal, such as rice. Start with one tablespoon cereal. Mix this with enough breast milk, formula, or water to make a soupy cereal. You may heat this for 5- 10 seconds in the microwave. Stir well and make sure it is not too hot. I suggest buying baby spoons that change color if the food it too hot. The cereal may also thicken once you microwave it, simply add more liquid.

Ahh the anticipation of another milestone. As you are quickly learning your pre-birth fantasies of raising a baby are usually, well, just that…fantasies. First feedings rarely go as imagined. While your baby has been studying your every move at the dinner table he has yet to practice it himself. Be patient, expect 90% to end up on their face, your face, chair, cat, dog, ect. Relish this, another milestone has been met.
